Virginia Man Sentenced to 221 Years for Bank Robberies

A man from Chesapeake, Virginia was recently sentenced to 221 years for bank robberies and related firearms charges, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney's office in the Eastern District of Virginia. Leonard Earl Roulhac, 39, was convicted in March of robbing or trying to rob 12 financial institutions during a six-month period in Hampton Roads (which is comprised of Norfolk, Portsmouth, Virginia Beach, Hampton, Newport News, Williamsburg, Suffolk, and the Eastern Shore). Roulhac was arrested on May 18, 2009, after he was spotted in a stolen car by a Chesapeake police officer, who then followed the criminal and ended up in a 15-minute chase down U.S. 58 in Suffolk.
